Featured Work “Tree of Life” by Delphine Peller
The beginning of the year, fresh starts, and new commitments can seem both exhilarating and a bit scary. For some, the pressure to become better, richer, and slimmer can be overwhelming. The constant undercurrent of social media can pull our focus outward, leading to negative and jealous comparisons. I soooo get this. It is hard to turn off the noise.
So I thought it would be a great time to feature my painting “Tree of Life”. It is inspired by Proverbs 3:18. I am no biblical scholar…but this spoke to me. Certainly, the tree of life visual got my attention. If you know me, you know I am spiritual, but sometimes struggle with organized religion. A meditative walk in the woods, or time just breathing in the garden is where I connect.
Whether you are religious or not, the symbolism is a universally profound. Holding dear to core values and simple truths can nurture roots and give strength to extend branches. The Tree of Life can also serve as shelter and refuge.
“Tree of Life” is a mixed media painting on 18”x24” canvas that includes renderings of many roots and branches. It is framed in a dark bronze statement frame measuring to 26”x33”. The overlaying image is a whimsical tree with accentuated roots and branches and a strong, weathered trunk. The text is a few words from Proverbs 3:18.
